Epoch Ephemeral

Long and tumultuous is the journey from unconsciousness to the waking spring of total awareness. Our lives are fleeting, and the memories of that which was, or could have been, a constant drain and distraction from knowing ourselves and the world in fullness. We are now, and have been in the most fleeting and disconnected period in all of history, and because of this, art, the greatest force for the imagination ever devised, has risen to meet it. We live only to die, survived only by those things we created with love. Some say its a tragedy, others a comedy, but I call it The Epoch Ephemeral.

140 page book with poetry coming soon.

SHADOW’S GLANCE

I often wonder what’s behind

the shadow’s glance of our own mind.

The things we feel but cannot see

to guard our inner sanctity.

These are the games we play

our tendencies that don’t agree

with values and morality.

It is the winter of our mind

when shadows darken our perception

and we believe how we’re defined

by our own deception.

Boats

One of my all time favorite place in the world are the palustrine systems in and around the old Rhine arms. In the early nineteenth century, The Rhine between Basel and Worms was shortened from 220 to 170 miles, almost a quarter of its length. Dozens of cuts were made, more than twenty-two hundred islands removed. Between 1817 and 1876 the Upper Rhine was straightened by Johann Gottfried Tulla. This had the intended effects of speeding the flow of water, improving navigation and alleviating the effects of flooding. It left the old Rhine-arms a desolated mosquito infested swamp. But behold, what serenity and mystery!

Project | Moments

“Most great photography succeeds in scenery, portraiture or framing finesse, with thoughtful and simple composition. It is extremely difficult to capture the passing moment, a subtle gesture or a human emotion. This appreciation of the passing moment and the poetry of being is at the core of “MOMENTS.”
